Head Krstičević in the delegation with President Josipovic in Burgenland
Croatian President, prof. dr.sc. Ivo Josipovic during a visit to the Republic of Austria 5. and 6. November 2012. was met with Burgenland Croats. The delegation of the Croatian President was mr. sc. Daria Krsticevic, Head of the State Office for Croats abroad.
In Klimpuh, delegation met with Stanko Horvath, president of the Croatian cultural society in Burgenland. On that occasion, President Josipovic said that Croatia takes care of its minorities and, through the newly established State Office for Croats abroad, will give more care with stronger intensity and will continue to support activities to preserve national identity and cultural characteristics of Burgenland.
President of the Croatian Cultural Society Stanko Horvath Croatian reported to the delegation two great and important event for the Burgenland Croats in the next year.
"Next year we celebrate the 480th anniversary of the Croats in this region and the Croatian accession to the European Union," said Horvath. He expressed hope that the Croatian membership in the EU will give a new impetus to the strengthening and nurturing relationships between Burgenland Croats and the homeland.
After Klimpuh, presidentJosipovic with the delegation, visited a new bilingual school in the Great Borištof, the only school in Burgenland in which the program is implemented in the "Croatian and nimškom." Great Borištof is a municipality with four villages where the Croats make up 80 percent of the population.
Croatian delegation also visited the Upper Bort and Pinkovci in southern Burgenland
