Summer camps - an opportunity to learn the Croatian language.
There was an emphasis on the need to strengthen cultural cooperation and exchange
On Saturday, April the 27th 2013, MSc Daria Krstičević, Head of the State Office for Croats Abroad visited Antofagasta where she met with the representatives of Croatian emigrant associations: the Croatian Community (which is celebrating 120 years of existence next year), the Croatian Falcon (which celebrated 85th anniversary this year) and Honorary Consul Dr Pedro Marinov.
During the meeting, there was an emphasis on the need to strengthen cultural cooperation and exchange, the need for modern approaches and methods of Croatian language learning and the possibility of organizing summer camps for children in the Republic of Croatia, which would be an opportunity to learn the Croatian language.
Head Krstičević informed about the news regarding the acquisition of the Croatian citizenship, which was provided by the Act on the relations of the Republic of Croatia with Croats abroad. Specifically, the State Office for Croats Abroad, in cooperation with the competent authorities, is working intensely on creating the conditions for the implementation of status of Croats without Croatian citizenship, which will be an assurance for the survival of the Croatian communities abroad.
Folklore societies from Antofagasta “Jeka” and “Hrvatska mladost” and the singing group “Tri sulara” performed a special program.
