Head Krstičević met with representatives of the Croatian minority from Hungary, Austria and Slovakia
"Burgenland Croats - good example for preservation and promotion of Croatian identity, culture, language and customs"
MSc. Daria Krstičević, Head of the State Office for Croats Abroad met with representatives of the Association of Croats from Hungary, Austria and Slovakia in Sopron.
During the meeting, they discussed the most important issues of interest for further action and survival of the Burgenland Croats in three neighboring states.
Head Krstičević thanked Burgenland Croats for their effort to preserve and promote Croatian identity and Croatian culture, language and customs in the areas of three countries: Hungary, Austria and Slovakia, through nearly five centuries. She introduced them to the work and activities of the State Office and invited them to address the State Office as a central body to strengthen and coordinate relations with the Croatian community in the world, should any of the open questions arise.
Representatives of Burgenland Croats announced the organization of fortnightly caravans of horses and horse-drawn carriages, called "On our old track," which will go on the First July 2013, from Croatia to Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary and thus symbolically mark the Croatian entry into the EU. The reason for this event is the 480th anniversary of the arrival of the Croats in Burgenland.
During a visit to Sopron, Head Krstičević attended the shooting of the Croatian TV show “Lijepom našom” that was held in Sopron occasion of 480th anniversary of the arrival of Croats in Burgenland.
